Tim McDaniel Photography

Other artists create beauty. I capture it.

“With regard to my passion for photography, I focus on nature photography, such as landscapes, sunsets, seascapes, but all things photogenic are fair game. I have always been drawn to mother Earth for inspiration, and been fascinated by the natural settings in which I have lived. The stories I tell through pictures changes my perception of life. I never know what I'm going to photograph, but my subjects find me, not the other way around. Art is my life raft. It gives me a new hope and breath of life each day. It takes me an hour to walk around the block. What does that say about me?”

Ever since about the age of 12, I have been told that I have an eye for photography. I was developing my own black and white prints by the age of 13. By 14 years I was taking photos for my high school yearbook. By the age of16 I was an avid camper and explorer. I took every opportunity I had to capture the beauty of life around me as I do today, one photograph at a time.

Tim McDaniel was born in San Francisco, CA in 1965 then moved to Los Angeles. Both of his parents worked in the entertainment industry, so he had exposure to the arts at an early age and a lot of creative inspiration. Much of his young life he lived in the Santa Monica Mountains, where he always found something to do on the trails and in the woods. He performed in plays, television and movies.

He has traveled across America as well as parts of Europe, where every stop introduced a new photo opportunity. In 1994, he moved to the east coast and raised a beautiful family.

He photographs fine art for local galleries and works with many local musicians to produce CD label art as well as capturing moments at performances. He has photographed over 50 songwriters to date.

Tim currently lives in Batesville, Virginia with his wife Sandra, son Bradley and daughter Mary.
